If you ever find a turtle on a fencepost, you’ll know one thing for sure: he didn’t get there by himself. That’s true of all of us, pray for others, and give thanks for the way God has used them to help develop you.

Thought for the Day
The old saying goes that if you ever find a turtle on a fencepost, you will know one thing for sure: he didn’t get there by himself. That’s true of all of us. Our journey in life takes place with the help and care of others, in addition to our own efforts. There is a strong example in the Bible to pray for others, and to give thanks for the way God has used them to help develop you.
This is the time of year that teachers and schools—pastors and church leaders—look for fresh wind to fill their sails so they can inspire others. They are working hard to boost people up on their fenceposts.
Consider This
Who are the people I have found to be an inspiration in my spiritual journey? What teachers and mentors have guided me in life? Who are some teachers I can pray for? Are they aware of how much I appreciate their investment in my life? How can I encourage them?
Prayer Focus
Thank God today for those specific people in your life who have built into you, encouraged you, and helped you in your faith. Also, be sure to pray for some teachers by name who are finding new ways to educate and inspire others this fall.
